Coffee mornings and events organised by Sunderland Parent Carer Forum.

Coffee Morning

10am – 12pm  Bede Tower (Bethany City Church), Burdon Road, Sunderland.

Parent Carers and family members of Children and Young People with SEND or invited to join us at one of our coffee mornings.  Find out what’s happening in Sunderland around Special Education Needs & Disabilities, talk about issues and concerns you may have and add your voice in helping to influence and change SEND provision in Sunderland.

Guest Speakers

NEET Project –  The NEET Project hopes to improve access to training and employment opportunities for vulnerable young people including those with SEND and Looked After Children/Care Leavers. Project co-ordinators will be joining us to find out more about what is happening with the digital solution that was being developed, as well as discuss key barriers/gaps in provision for young people with SEND in Sunderland.

Bede Tower is across the road from Mumbai Silk. Bede Tower has  a very good car park for around 50 cars.

The following buses stop right outside or opposite Bethany City Church.

SEND Home School Transport (Sunderland)

10am – 12pm Bede Tower, Burdon Road, Sunderland (Theatre Room)

Paul Tomlin (TfC Commissioning Specialist Transport) will be joining us to talk about POTENTIAL changes to home-school transport for SEND. Join us to find out about the proposals and ask questions about them.

Please bear in mind that even though this may not currently affect you, it may do in the future.

The proposals are:

  • Proposal 1 – Applying Statutory Free Travel Distances
  • Proposal 2 – Withdrawal of Nursery Transport
  • Proposal 3 – Withdrawal of The Links School (KS3) Transport
  • Proposal 4 – Time limited transport for Post 16 SEND students

The event is free for parent carers in Sunderland, who have children and young people (ages 0-25) with SEND.

Refreshments available on arrival.
