When did you join the forum? I’m one of the original members of the forum which was started in 2007.
Why? I was inspired by Katie Clarke from Calderdale who spoke at parent carer conference in Sunderland, and wanted to be part of making a difference for our children and young people in Sunderland who have special educational need, and/or disability.
Tell us a little about your family? I’m a happily divorced single parent; my son has autism & epilepsy, he attended special schools from reception age, all the way to the end of 6th form, and is now in his final year of a HND course.
What is your background? Prior to becoming a mam, I was in managment, and my last job was a Duty Manager for Bass Leisure. I was Chair of Governors at special school for almost 14 years.
What hobbies do you have, or how do you like to relax? Reading, crochet or knitting, and colouring in!
What music do you like listening t0? I have quite wide tastes but Elvis Presley is by far my fave
What about TV or movies? I love a good crime or action thriller (Line of Duty!), and quite partial to the MCU.
Anything else? I’m passionate about mental health, and became a mental health first aider in 2020
