Partnerships – Participation & Co-production
Since we formed in 2007, we have worked with many organisations as the parent carer voice for Sunderland. Sitting on working groups, strategic boards, etc to ensure that the parent carer voice is heard when services are being designed, reduced, streamlined for all SEND children and young people in Sunderland.
How does the forum work with its partners?
We gather the views and feedback of local families by holding and attending events and coffee mornings across the city. We are keen to hear from as many parent carers as possible to find out what is important to them.
We then feedback these views at whichever meeting it is appropriate for; highlighting good practice and services that are working well, and challenging them when things aren’t working well or when we don’t agree with what the providers are proposing, or where improvements need to be made.
We believe working in the evidence based, solution focussed way is the most productive way of ensuring that services commissioned are services that are needed and wanted as well as bring value for money.
