When did you join the forum? October 2021, I’m a newbie!
Why? I joined the forum as I am passionate about empowering, supporting, and advocating for parent carers. I believe that one person’s story can help another, their wins, mistakes, ups and downs are all beneficial in making someone feel seen.
Tell us a little about your family? Within my family there is my husband Dan, my eldest daughter Leah who is a trainee hairdresser, my teenage son Logan who is still in secondary and then last but certainly never least – Delilah, our undiagnosed superstar.
What is your background? Before falling pregnant with Delilah, I had set out to start education in midwifery. After having Delilah however, I decided that there was no way I could ever go back to education and complete the endless run of doctors’ appointments, so I set up my own business from home. I was ‘Tracey the bow lady’ supplying schools and stores within Sunderland and wider areas with girls’ accessories and beyond. Since then, after battling my own mental health conditions I decided (during lockdown) to start my education again but this time within counselling. I have completed my level two and currently working through my level 3 with the idea of progressing and becoming a counsellor. I’m a huge advocate for mental health!
What hobbies do you have, or how do you like to relax? My hobbies are drawing, I love drawing especially depicting a carers life in image for others… writing my blog or page and taking long walks on the beach (no not even joking!).
What music do you like listening to? Got to be honest I’ve got an eclectic taste, it ranges between Taylor swift, Paul Simon, linkin park and Elvis Presley! So a bit of anything.
What about TV or movies? Oooh anything marvel… especially Black Panther, and obviously you can’t beat anything with Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn or romcoms… but again I’ll give anything as long as it has a good story line!
Anything else? I’ve learnt that nothing changes if nothing changes. If I want to see changes, I need to make changes happen, no one will do it for me or my daughter.
